Why Have We So Many Problems? The Talk Of The Month

In each newsletter I would like to introduce a talk or conversation from people who have accompanied me in my spiritual development.

I would like to start this newsletter with Krishnamurti and his talk about problems. You can listen to it following the link  at the end of this article.

I was very touched by this discourse because it highlighted to me that we are all deeply conditioned, but rarely question or recognize it.

By conditioning I mean the sum of all values, beliefs and 'musts' that have been imprinted on me at a moment when I was too young to question them.

If we would recognize that everybody on the planet is deeply conditioned maybe a better understanding of the other could arise.

Because what I reject in the other person is maybe not contained in me because I was exposed to a different set of beliefs and values.

So I don't reject the person but his conditioning.

This could then lead to something like compassion or even understanding for the other person. And then maybe we could meet for the first time on the same level where I don't need to raise myself up or make the other smaller to feel good.

It became very clear to me in this talk that the beginning of all problems is my insufficient understanding of my own conditioning.

And that maybe I should start looking at life not as a way of dealing with myriad problems, but as a highly suspenseful film in which I play the leading role.

At the same time, I should be aware that this film always ends fatally for me and that it therefore makes no sense to postpone life until later.

Who Is speaking?

My name is Jan Diringer and I live on this beautiful island of Crete since 2021. I work as a life coach and as a cook for groups in workshops.

My biggest interest is self-development and my biggest goal would be to perceive reality for a moment without looking through the lenses of my conditioning. I love to help people who want to reach their potential.

On Finding The Recipe Of Happiness And What Conscious Crete Is All About

I have been involved with this community for around 9 months now…just enough time to give birth if this was a baby. A project like Conscious Crete is in many ways very much like having a baby: the intensity of it, the novelty, the not really knowing what to do. The only difference (or maybe not really the only one!) is that when you have a baby there are only two possible answers to the question what is it? A boy? Or a girl? I wish the answer to what Conscious Crete is all about was as simple and binary as the one above. It is not…yet I will try to bring some light into the matter. Conscious Crete is more than a Facebook Group There is no doubt in my mind that Conscious Crete is much bigger a project than a Facebook Group. Yet, for many people this statement is not clear as they tend to see only the tip of the iceberg. The Facebook Group is a very useful platform to gather likeminded people and keep them informed of the activities of the community and not a purpose in...

5 Ways Yoga Can Help You Manage Stress

With more people than ever experiencing stress and anxiety, many are turning to yoga for help. With a lineage over 5000 years old, yoga is a holistic method that aims at inner balance. Although in today’s Western society, the main focus of yoga is on its physical postures, it is through looking at the ancient yogic scriptures that we can better understand the mechanisms of stress and how yoga can h elp.   Is Yoga only about postures? The Sanskrit root of yoga is ‘yuk’ meaning to ‘yoke’, or unite. Essentially, yoga describes union. The union of the body, mind and soul.  Through this union, the yogi can see their true self, and unite with the truth of the universe. Through this union, the mind is calm. Rather than focusing solely on what happens on the yoga mat, the yogic wisdom invites us to explore how we interact with the world around us.  As it is from this interaction that stress arises, observing how we do it is often the first step towards a balanced life. ...
