On the Trail With Helen - Gorgeous Gouverneto

Hi everyone! My name is Helen and I love exploring Crete, the mountains and the trails.  I am excited to share with you some of my favourite routes 🙂 Gorgeous Gouverneto Just 18km from Chania (about 30min drive) you will find the Gouverneto monastery.  Built in 1537 in the Venetian period, it is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete. Upon arrival your first walk will be through the beautiful gardens of the monastery before reaching the top of Avlaki gorge.  From here there is a stone path that takes you down to the bottom of the gorge.  On the way down you will pass the famous “bear” cave, the church of St.John the hermit and the ruins of the old Katholiki monastery.  Once you reach the bottom it is a short hike to the small cove at the end of the gorge which used to be a harbour back in the day.  Here you can take a refreshing dip in the crystal blue waters before tackling the walk back up. This walk can be done all year round and my particular favourite is to go at sunrise, where

On Finding The Recipe Of Happiness And What Conscious Crete Is All About

I have been involved with this community for around 9 months now…just enough time to give birth if this was a baby. A project like Conscious Crete is in many ways very much like having a baby: the intensity of it, the novelty, the not really knowing what to do. The only difference (or maybe not really the only one!) is that when you have a baby there are only two possible answers to the question what is it? A boy? Or a girl? I wish the answer to what Conscious Crete is all about was as simple and binary as the one above. It is not…yet I will try to bring some light into the matter. Conscious Crete is more than a Facebook Group There is no doubt in my mind that Conscious Crete is much bigger a project than a Facebook Group. Yet, for many people this statement is not clear as they tend to see only the tip of the iceberg. The Facebook Group is a very useful platform to gather likeminded people and keep them informed of the activities of the community and not a purpose in its

The Story of My Grandparents Who Never Existed and How That Affected Me Without Being Aware

Joy, tears, more tears, a lot more tears, joy again and inner peace after removing sadness, burden and responsibilities that were never mine. This is the story of a surprise gift received in the form of an online Family Constellation and the impressive healing it brought to me.  The way it all materialised for me is a great example of what you might consider to be coincidence or synchronicity as it happened  just two days after I heard about this method. The Orders Family Constellation facilitators understand certain important ‘orders’ and assist their clients to deal with them accordingly. Within a family, there is an appropriate place for everyone. For example,  ‘parents are “big”, children are “small”.’  There could be disharmony or imbalance if these orders are not followed by family members. Some people might experience emotional issues or even illnesses. Having a Chinese background, this concept is not new for me because the ranking system as I like to call it is greatly

Voice Analysis And Vibrational Sound Therapy

Did you know that your thoughts and emotions have a huge impact on your health? Did you also know that your voice is an expression of your soul, and as such, it can provide insights into your mental and physical health? How about if I told you that by recording and analysing your voice and then introducing specific frequencies into your body, balance and harmony could be restored and your overall health and wellbeing could be greatly improved?  Well, all that is true.   We all notice the change in someone’s voice when they’re feeling sad and miserable compared to when they’re feeling happy and upbeat. That’s because everyone has an individual voice pattern.   Illness in the body or mind creates different sounding voice patterns and to someone who knows how to analyse voice patterns, finding a problem and a solution is easy……and this is where Sound Therapy comes in.   What is Sound Therapy? Sound therapy is a holistic healing modality that utilises sound and vibratio

Tomorrow Never Comes - Talk of the Month

This month I have picked out a very short talk (only 3 minutes) by a modern Indian mystic OSHO .  I am coming more and more to the realization that if you can say what you want in a few words then there is usually a lot of truth in it. Our minds are so busy reliving the past or anticipating the future to the point that between these two extremes we miss the journey of life itself because life is always happening HERE and  NOW. We are going through life in such a hurry that we never  allow ourselves the rest to sit back and enjoy the ride with the beauty that is presenting to us at every moment. Or to put it in other words, life with all its possibilities is constantly knocking on our door but we are never there. In my own life, I try as much as possible to stay in the present moment. I find myself easily distracted so the exercise is just to observe this and make a conscious choice of returning to the NOW.  Enjoy the talk ! I wish you all a wonderful month with many NOW m

Nina's Kitchen - Lemon Cake Recipie

Food brings us together is a mantra I always believed in; we gather around the table and share food, conversations, jokes, emotions and some of our troubles.  By the end of a shared meal we feel  fulfilled both physically and emotionally.  This week recipe is a very simple and delicious cake, you don't need an electric mixer, a hand held one will do the job nicely      Lemon Cake 4 large eggs at room temperature  200 grams sugar 200 mil olive oil  200 grams strained yogurt  Zest of one lemon Juice of one lemon 280 grams all purpose flour One table spoon baking powder One packet of vanilla    In a large bowl mix all the ingredients, except the flour and baking powder, until well combined. Add the baking powder to the flour, stir with a fork to be combined. Now sieve the flour into the bowl containing the liquid mixture and combine them using a spatula.  Remember to not over mix the combination, you need a fluffy cake not a loaf of bread. Slightly
